Overview

Mika, the Mediterranean restaurant by James Beard Award–winning Chef Michael White, is seeking a poised, confident, and hospitality-driven Lead Host / Hostess to oversee the host stand and serve as the first and lasting impression of the restaurant. This role is ideal for a polished professional with strong leadership skills, exceptional organization, and a genuine passion for guest experience.

The Lead Host / Hostess plays a critical role in managing reservations, guest flow, and front-door hospitality while supporting service standards and team culture.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Hospitality

• Greet all guests with warmth, professionalism, and confidence

• Manage reservations, waitlists, and guest seating to ensure optimal flow and service pacing

• Build rapport with regulars and VIP guests, ensuring personalized experiences

• Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and concerns with grace and efficiency

Leadership & Host Stand Operations

• Lead, train, and support host/hostess team members

• Set expectations for service standards, appearance, and professionalism

• Coordinate closely with management and floor leadership during service

• Assist with opening and closing host stand procedures

Reservations & Communication

• Manage reservation systems accurately and efficiently

• Communicate table status and guest notes clearly with managers and service staff

• Anticipate high-volume periods and proactively adjust seating strategies

• Maintain accurate guest profiles and notes when applicable

Professionalism & Teamwork

• Serve as a role model for hospitality, composure, and teamwork

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host stand

• Support FOH team members as needed to ensure seamless service

• Uphold all company policies, safety, and sanitation standards

Qualifications

• Previous hosting experience required; lead or supervisory experience preferred

• Fine-dining or upscale restaurant experience strongly preferred

• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills

• Calm, confident demeanor in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

• Professional appearance and polished presence

• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
