About Us:
MIKA, an upscale coastal Mediterranean restaurant in collaboration with Chef Michael White, is seeking an experienced and passionate Captain/Floor Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining high standards of service, and fostering a positive, high-energy environment for both staff and guests.
Role Overview:
The Captain/Floor Supervisor will work closely with the General Manager to ensure efficient and profitable operation of the restaurant. You will be responsible for supervising front-of-house operations, delivering exceptional service, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a deep passion for hospitality and a sharp eye for detail, able to inspire and motivate a diverse team while ensuring an outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example, promoting a positive, team-oriented work environment that values professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Supervise and coach front-of-house staff, conducting regular performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
- Cultivate a warm, welcoming atmosphere that exceeds guest expectations and delivers genuine hospitality.
- Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring efficient service, high-quality dining experiences, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
- Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
- Work closely with the culinary team to ensure food quality, presentation, and timely delivery meet restaurant standards.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization, ensuring a safe and sanitized environment for both staff and guests.
- Monitor guest feedback, using it to refine and improve the overall dining experience.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of supplies.
- Stay informed about industry trends, techniques, and best practices to continuously elevate the dining experience at MIKA.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Restaurant Captain/Supervisor or similar leadership role in a high-end, fine dining establishment (opening experience preferred).
- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of motivating and inspiring a diverse team.
- Exceptional hospitality skills, with a deep understanding of creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests and staff.
- In-depth knowledge of food and beverage service, fine dining etiquette, and wine pairings.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multitask, and remain composed under pressure.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role, plus a high school diploma or GED.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Required Skills:
- High-volume, upscale restaurant management (300+ covers per day).
- Experience with restaurant management software and POS systems.
- Cocktail, wine, and general beverage knowledge.
- Quality control and consistency in service.
- Food Handler Certification.
- Expertise in purchasing and receiving inventory.
- Recruitment, training, and staff development.
- Scheduling, conflict resolution, and strong interpersonal communication.
