Floor Manager
Mika Restaurant is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Service Floor Manager to oversee the daily operations of our service team and ensure an exceptional guest experience. The Service Floor Manager will be responsible for managing the front-of-house staff, ensuring efficient service flow, handling guest concerns, and upholding Mika’s high standards of service and hospitality. This leadership role requires strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Supervision & Training:
- Lead, motivate, and supervise the front-of-house team, including servers, bartenders, and host/hostesses.
- Ensure staff is well-trained on menu offerings, service standards, and restaurant procedures.
- Conduct ongoing training to maintain high performance and consistent service.
- Manage daily floor assignments and ensure optimal team coverage during service hours.
Guest Experience:
- Monitor the dining room to ensure guests are being greeted promptly and attended to throughout their meal.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and resolve issues to ensure satisfaction.
- Foster a welcoming and positive atmosphere by leading by example and engaging with guests.
- Ensure all guest requests and special accommodations are met with attention to detail.
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the smooth operation of service during peak hours, ensuring all front-of-house functions are executed efficiently.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and bar teams to maintain proper communication and flow between the front and back of house.
- Ensure that the dining area is clean, organized, and well-maintained throughout service.
- Monitor the pacing of service to ensure timely delivery of food and drinks.
Inventory and Ordering:
- Help manage front-of-house inventory and ensure adequate supplies of service-related items (e.g., glassware, napkins, etc.).
- Assist with ordering supplies and restocking when necessary.
Team Development:
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to staff members.
- Address any personnel issues or performance concerns promptly and professionally.
- Inspire a team-oriented environment and encourage positive interactions among team members.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist with staff scheduling, ensuring appropriate coverage for shifts.
- Handle cash management and POS reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Assist the Restaurant Manager and General Manager with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment is required.
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, including floor management, customer service, and team leadership.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive, approachable attitude with a focus on creating exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Knowledge of POS systems, restaurant software, and cash handling procedures.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and move throughout the restaurant during service.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., trays, supplies, etc.).
